In our day and age, most people find a cell phone a necessity, not a want. The fact is, most people pay too much for their plans and don't use them to the fullest extent. For a while, I thought the solution was a pay-as-you-go phone. However, my service has been sub-par and it hasn't been as cheap as I was hoping. I've been looking for something else and that's when I found out about Straight Talk, sold exclusively by Wal-Mart.
I like the fact that, with my current phone, I don't have a contract, but the internet has never worked, they've charged me screwy a couple of times and their customer service isn't very good. I was pleased to find out Straight Talk is no-contract, but much better than my current situation.
Here's what I found out about Straight Talk:
- There are no contracts
- No surprise bills and no credit checks
- Nationwide coverage and excellent reception/connectivity
- Good phones from manufacturers like LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia and Samsung.
I especially liked their "All You Need Plan.” This plan is $30 a month and meets even the needs of heavy phone users with 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 30 MB of web data. I'm currently spending about $25 a month (I told you I'm on a pay-as-you-go!), but I'm starting to use it more and more and my costs are increasing. With the "All You Need Plan," I would keep my payments the same as I grow my usage.
If you've got a teenager, you might say that the "All You Need Plan" is not all you need. The good news is they have an unlimited plan for only $45. I was blown away when I saw that--most unlimited plans are much more expensive. If you do the math, the unlimited plan is $499.00 a year. Talk & Text Unlimited is $149.00 a MONTH at Verizon--$1,800.00 a year.
For me, you could give me a great deal on service, but I want to know--do they have good phones to choose from? I found several I liked, ranging from $40-$90, very reasonable for brand name phones. You can choose from refurbished phones, flip phones, slide phones, and smart phones. There were several different styles and price ranges to suit your needs.
Overall, I was impressed with Straight Talk and will be considering switching service to them in the near future. Here are some links for more information:
